Everyone across the state of South Carolina has heard about Boeing coming to North Charleston, and on the surface it sounds great. However, the economic policy of state governments offering firms financial incentives to locate in a particular state has a poor track record. South Carolina is no exception. What most people are not aware of is the state govenment's involvement in building a major retail center in Jasper county. I have a brief analysis of the deal proposed and the problems with it.
